Internet-an Pake LINUX UBUNTU 8.10

Malam ini (Senin, 3 Agustus 2009), kebetulan sambil lembur, sambil minum kopi, coba2 deh internetan pake LINUX UBUNTU (agak malu juga sih pake Windows bajakan...hehehe... kalo di rumah sih). Kebetulan baru beli modem 3G, sengaja beli yg agak murah, sesuai kantong saya sih, modem 3G USB Huawei E156G, tadi di kantor sudah dicoba pake Windows, dicolokin ke USB Port, lgs detect dan lgs install softwarenya. Itu kan di Windows yang memang kudu bisa.
Sampai di rumah, sesuai dgn info yg saya dapat dari toko, katanya nih modem, terdetect di MAC OS (Nih OS kan turunannya UNIX, jd yaa mirip2 gitu kan dengan LINUX), ya udah...kl gt saya coba deh pasang nih modem di LINUX (kebetulan lagi neh... sy punya laptop udah saya install dengan DUAL OS : Windows XP dan LINUX UBUNTU 8.10). Ternyata begitu Modem dipasang, langsung terdeteksi oleh LINUX.
Awalnya bingung juga sih, gmn yaa utk koneksi internet nya????
Yang penting nih modem udah terdeteksi, saya gunakan Terminal Linux utk memeriksanya, caranya :
a. Buka Terminal melalui Accessories > Terminal
b. Ketik lsusb
muncul baris2 pesan yg cukup banyak, kira2 spt ini :

c. udah itu saya ketik dmesg grep | tail , muncul :

bingung yaa....
d. langkah berikut, saya kembali ke desktop Linux, trus lgs klik kanan di system tray nya, di icon network, muncul menu , klik Edit Connection.
e. muncul kotak dialog Network Connections
f. klik tab Mobile Broadband, trus klik Add, muncul kota New Mobile Broadband, klik forward
g. di bagian service provider, saya pilih indosat(matrix), lalu klik forward,
h. klik tombol edit
i. saya masukkan user name dan password (disini saya menggunakan IM2 Broom, username dan password sudah saya buat melalui websitenya)
j. untuk APN nya saya masukkan indosatm2
k. klik OK. lalu Close.
Selanjutnya, koneksi tersambung. Buka Firefox, langsung browsing.
